Denpasar Airport opens bidding for shops

Bali Airport opens bidding for shops process to select business partners to welcome the rise of the tourism industry in 2021. At present, the airport remains open, but it restricted just a few domestic flights from Jakarta. A notice on Garuda Indonesia’s website said the airline had scheduled limited international flights to China from Bali to resume in June. But in a recent update Indonesia’s president Joko Widodo projected that the Covid-19 pandemic would continue until the end of this year and the travel industry should prepare for an explosion in the tourism 2021. Quoting the President’s optimism, the airport operator announced the bidding process to select commercial enterprises to operate retail outlets at the airport last Friday. Phase one of the selection process involves 10 food and beverage outlets, and 11 retail shops with applications closing on 12 June. In the second phase of the selection process open from 15 October to 6 November, the applications are open for two food and beverage outlets, four retail shops, four services providers and a duty-free outlet. Angkasa Pura Airports invites international and local brand owners to take this golden opportunity by participating in the selection process of business partners to do business at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport where Bali is known as one of the world’s favourite tourism destinations,” the airport company’s statement explained. The airport’s business conditions will begin to rise in early 2021, ” according to the corporation’s director of marketing and services airports, Devy Suradji. In 2019, Bali won the title as the number 1 tourism destination in Asia at the 2019 Travelers Choice Awards held by TripAdvisor. In 2018, Bali ranked 19th on the 2018 Global Destination Cities Index released by Mastercard with 8.3 million foreign tourists. In 2019, aircraft passenger traffic (domestic and international) at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport reached 24,168,133 passengers, up 1.66% compared to 2018 with 23,773,714 passengers.

Bali Safari Park needs help #kitacintasatwa

Bali Safari Park needs help #kitacintasatwa

Bali Safari Park Donation program #kitacintasatwa has been launched after the due the Corona Virus outbreak which  had an undeniable global impact on numerous sectors and industries. Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) Group, as a conservation institution as well as education and recreation for the community, have also been deeply impacted by the pandemic. With the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) by the Indonesian government, all TSI Group units (Taman Safari Bogor, Taman Safari Prigen, Bali Safari Park, and Batang Dolphins Center) were temporarily closed since March 23, 2020, until further notice. This decision to close all units was done as a way for TSI Group to play our part in breaking the chain of transmission and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Consequently, this closure has resulted in zero income from the absence of admissions sales to the parks.

Despite having no income, as the acting management of TSI Group, they are  conducting their best efforts to uphold all responsibilities to feed and care for the animals. The TSI Group would like to offer the chance for individuals, organizations and/or communities who want to participate and provide assistance in the TSI Group’s conservation program during this difficult time. For this reason, the #kitacintasatwa program has been launched since April 2020.

Through #kitacintasatwa, the community is invited to participate in supporting conservation programs in all TSI Group units through donations. There is no minimum donation amount set to join this #kitacintasatwa. “We understand difficult times like this due to COVID-19, but we see more and more people transmitting the kindness of helping one another, including animals,” says Biswajit Guha, Group Head of Life Science at Taman Safari Indonesia.People who want to help in the welfare of the animals in the TSI Group, can directly transfer funds through BCA account number 6801777811 on behalf of PT Taman Safari Indonesia. Additionally, participants can also scan the QR Code distributed via TSI Group Instagram accounts.

Every Rupiah donated from the community will be used to provide food, medical care and animal welfare in the TSI Group. The #kitacintasatwa campaign was launched not solely to collect donations, but also to convey the message that the COVID-19 pandemic has also impacted conservation programs as well as animals that are cared for and rescued in TSI.

The #kitacintasatwa is currently planned to remain open for the donation program for as long as the PSBB is implemented and the COVID-19 pandemic is still taking place. With this program, it is in the hope that the community is reminded of the many endangered fauna that needs to be cared and nurtured for, for the sake of future generations. Also, all the management and staff of TSI Group will continually remind the public to maintain health by maintaining social distancing measures and enforcing #dirumahaja

Changi Airport reopened transit zone from June 2020

Changi Airport reopened transit zone from June 2020

Singapore Airport reopened transit zone for travellers  from June 2, 2020 as it prepares to ease some COVID-19 restrictions and reopen its borders. Stringent measures will be put in place to ensure that the passengers remain in designated facilities in the transit area and do not mix with other passengers at the airport, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) on Wednesday (May 20). Airport staff will also be required to wear personal protective equipment when interacting with passengers.Existing precautionary measures, such as safe distancing, temperature taking for passengers and staff, will continue to be enforced, said the authority. There will be very little additional demand for flights once this transit ban is removed as no passengers are allowed to enter Singapore (unless they are citizens and permanent residents). Also, entry bans and quarantine requirements are in place in most countries. This change, however, allows Singapore Airlines to start planning their flight schedules once countries slowly relax entry bans and lift quarantine requirements.

Bali Police clamping down on fake medical certificates

Bali Police clamping down on fake medical certificates

Bali Police cracking down on fake medical certificates reportedly used to circumvent travel restrictions enforced to curb the spread of COVID-19 and have made seven arrests so far,Medical certificates from hospitals or clinics indicating that the holders have tested negative for COVID-19 are required for those who need to travel for business or work amid a ban on "mudik" - the annual homecoming exodus ahead of the Muslim holiday Idul Fitri. This has led to fraudulent medical certificates, including those purporting to be from a major Indonesian hospital chain, to be sold for a price between 50,000 to 300,000 rupiah (US$3.37 to US$20.23) each. An Indonesian health agency official rests at the entrance to a public toilet as other colleagues
An Indonesian health agency official rests at the entrance to a public toilet as other colleagues conduct COVID-19 testing in Bandung, West Java. According the national police spokesman Argo Yuwono  are the  fake certificates  available online at marketplaces, blogs and social media.

“(Police's) cybercrime unit is tracking these people down,” the two-star general said, warning that both sellers and buyers of such fraudulent certificates could face charges. This is a serious offence.”

General Yuwono said police in all provinces across Indonesia have been told to be on the lookout for similar forged documents Our officers were also told to monitor social media to look for people who might be selling or buying forged documents. In a statement, Bali Provincial Police said the seven arrested were suspected of producing and selling fake certificates to dozens of travellers hoping to board a ferry bound for Java at the Gilimanuk port in Bali. In a raid at the port on Thursday (May 14) evening, authorities grew suspicious that a number of travellers were carrying certificates bearing a letterhead that said “private medical practitioner”. The signatures on the certificates were inconsistent, despite them being purportedly issued by the same doctor. The stamp mark also appeared to be printed instead of stamped. The discoveries led to the arrest of three people suspected of selling and producing the fake certificates. The other four suspects who produced and sold such certificates were arrested after authorities came across questionable certificates that appeared to be issued by a health clinic in Bali's capital of Denpasar. Despite being issued to different people, all of the certificates carried the exact same diagnosis. Among the four arrested was an employee of a printing shop. The Denpasar health clinic had earlier patronised the shop to print stationery, which explained how this employee got hold of the clinic's logo for the fake certificates. The suspects were charged for document forgery and could face a maximum sentence of six years in prison, if convicted. Mr Rahadiansyah said that's it is impossible to scrutinise every traveller and examine every document,The government had initially banned commercial flights, intercity buses and trains from operating on Apr 24 to stop people from performing mudik. But the ban was later lifted on May 7 with the government explaining that state officials, representatives of international organisations, businessmen and professionals still need to conduct business trips. The government should have at least suspended all trips until the mudik season is over.
