Scoot's chief executive Campbell Wilson stated  that the eventual cost savings "improves
our bottomline and gives us more scope to offer even better airfares".

It took more than 30 computerised mock-ups over the last two-plus years to finalise

the look and feel of Scoot's Boeing 787 cabins.

Scoot's Dreamliner fleet will be made up of the 787-8 and longer-range 787-9 variants.

They will each have up to 375 seats in two classes that promise to be roomier and more comfortable.

Those onboard will:

- enjoy better seat pitch of between 31 inches (economy) to 38 inches (ScootBiz) and more legroom;

- get better views when they look outside through larger windows;

- charge their laptops and mobile devices with AC power,

surf the internet with onboard Wifi connection or stream movies on their tablets and smartphones,

although economy passengers will have to pay for these services;

- suffer fewer headaches, dry eyes and nausea, that are typically caused by the lack of oxygen,

because the humidity level in the 787 cabin will be higher.

The Dreamliners, which are primarily made of carbon-fibre composite material,

are lighter and use a fifth less fuel than the current fleet does.

13 Balinese paintings from the 16 th and 17 th Century listed as cultural heritage

13 Balinese paintings from the 16 th and 17 th Century listed as cultural heritage

13 classical Balinese paintings as part of the district’s cultural heritage.

The paintings are in the collection of the Nyoman Gunarsa Museum of Classical Balinese Painting.

“Most paintings are more than a century old, some were even created in the 16th or 17th century,”

said Nyoman Suwirta -the regent of Klungkung- on Wednesday to Antara.

The regent delivered his speech on the celebration of the paintings being officially listed as cultural heritage items.

Prominent residents and the management team of the museum attended the event.

According to Antara, 64 paintings from the museum’s collection had been suggested as part of the regency’s cultural heritage.

But only 13 received the status after the process was completed in 2017.

The rest of the paintings are expected to receive the status later this year.

Apart from the paintings, other artifacts have been given the cultural heritage status, namely a leather puppet and some sculptures.

According to Suwirta, the bestowing of cultural heritage status on the artworks was the idea of the late Nyoman Gunarsa.

The artist himself expressed his wishes to President Joko Widodo when they met.

The idea was to make sure that the priceless assets could be preserved and maintained by the officials of Klungkung regency.

“I will ensure that the remaining paintings are to be assessed and given cultural heritage status soon. Furthermore,

we will propose this museum be integrated with the city tour package,” explained Suwirta.

Apart from the museum located in Banda Desa Takmung hamlet,

the Kertha Gosa pavilion at Klungkung Palace and Goa Jepang (Cave of Japan)

will also be listed as cultural heritage items. Suwirta confirmed that the regency was ready

Mount Agung erupts again and blows 1,5 km ash in the Bali blue Sky

Mount Agung erupts again and blows 1,5 km ash in the Bali blue Sky

Today Febr 13 th 2018 , only 3 days after the alert status has been lowered, there is surprisingly  another eruption on Mounth  Agung

And it does what Agung tends to do - act unpredictably.

Orange VONA aviation advisory, but airport open and flights all going, and ash unlikely to impact on any flight paths or plans.

The eruption just before midday sent the ash column some 1.5km into the blue Bali sky, and it skewed a little to the east/northeast.

There was also an earthquake, which was felt closer to the volcano.

Status for Agung remains III (3) which is standby. Which is what you could do.

There are many evacuees in camps around eastern Bali, but many have returned home, and from the weekend, with the reduction of the danger zone,

all inhabitants were allowed to return to their homes and farms. Could be some ash fall east-north east of Agung.

According to a report issued by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG)

the eruption was accompanied by a column of smoke and ash about 1,500 meters above the peak.

Gunung Agung's activity status is still at level III or standby.

In case you were wondering, as far as we can tell, insurance companies still aren't covering Agung-related travel disruption, understandably so.

Keep cool. Have your mask, as well as sunscreen and an umbrella for Bali as it is still rainy season.

(If this is the first time to this page or alert, this is no big deal, Agung has been venting for months, off and on.

This is the nature of volcanoes, and the reality of being in Bali.)
