After 5 successful years, the Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) 

is back for its 6th edition, August 10th & 11th, 2018

at The Arma Museum Garden. This year, the local-community-based event

is more than ever open to artistic expression, as the theme is FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION.

Over the years, UVJF has gained a serious reputation, both locally

and globally, as one of the most versatile and evolving stage.

On the program: a selection of talent that blend together legends and rising stars,

regulars and newcomers, under one banner; Jazz! Salamander Big Band, from Bandung,

with no less than 30 musicians; Latin Jazz pianist, Nita Aartsen Trio,

back just on time from her European tour; Ito Kurdhi, the master of groove in Bali and afar; the 2017

“Inspiring Blind Jazz Pianist Award” winner, M Ade Irawan, to name a few from Indonesia.

And the luminary pianist & multi-instrumentalist Idang RasjidiSyndicate.

Praised by critics all over the globe, Idang Rasjidi’s performances, and ability to play

the piano while adding vocals imitating the sound of instruments such as trumpet, trombone

and even percussions, are something spectacular, energizing and unique.

From overseas, 2018 edition has the privilege to stage the breathtaking, hard-swinging,

hard-bop pianist, Benny Green Trio. Beside his own trio, Benny is a regular with Betty Carter,

Art Blakey, bassist Ray Brown and more recently,

he took the stage and recorded with artists like Christian McBride and Diana Krall.

Also, Korean fusion jazz band, A-FUZZ; Emilia Schnall from Australia; 

Gerard Kleijn and Judith Nijland of the Netherlands.

French cultural synthesis Insula (supported by Institut Français d'Indonésie);

Vienna’s based trio Triple Ace- Colours in Jazz (supported by Embassy of Austria in Indonesia);

double bass player, cellist and composer Sebastian Gramss from Germany

(Supported by Goethe-Institut Indonesien) and many more.

The sixth Ubud Village Jazz Festival is providing enriching and entertaining jazz performances

and programs throughout a selection of numerous jazz genre’s most acclaimed artists as well as

emerging talents, and provides greater exposure for the rich diversity of musicians from the archipelago.

The week before the festival, pre-event concerts will be organized in numerous venues around Bali,
