Royal Cremation Ceremony in Ubud with highest bade in world

Bade used as an escort of the Puri Ubud family, the late AA Niang Agung,

 

was awarded by the Indonesian Record Museum (Muri) as the highest bade in the world.

 Bade Nine passengers as high as 27.5 meters, weighing up to 11 tons,

carried by 3,910 people to Setra Dalem Puri, Ubud.

A number of officials appear to be present at Puri Agung Ubud, such as the Fifth President

of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarno Putri.

 Also present were ministers such as Susi Pujiastuti (Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs),

AA Ngurah Puspayoga (Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs), Arief Yahya (Minister of Tourism),

Cahyo Kumolo (Minister of Home Affairs) and Basuki Hadimuljono (Minister PUPR).

"This is our offering for the deceased, and this Bade was made for 1.5 months by my sister,

Tjokorda Gede Raka Sukawati with a number of pengayah in Puri Agung Ubud,"

said Tjokorda Artha Ardana Sukawati while giving a speech after receiving Muri award.

The procession carrying the bade, begins by raising the layon to bade past the tractag.

 The whole series went to setra dikomandoi penglandoir Puri Ubud

which also as Bendesa Pakraman Ubud, Tjokorda Raka Kerthyasa Sukawati.

Cheers of thousands of manners with  tourists from all nations  crowded this location was spilled,

when the magnificent bade began to move. By relay, every 50 meters of bade stops for the change of bade pengungsung. 

Along the road to Setra Dalam Puri there are a total of 8 times estapet. 

Bali Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Petrus Golose,

accompanied by Dir and then Bali Police Kombes AA Sudana seemed to participate carrying bade.

Previously reported, AA Niang Agung died at the hospital Bros, Denpasar, on Jan 14 th 2018. 

The woman who is the second wife of Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati (late) died at the age of 96 years. 

Before she died, she has been several times back and forth the hospital.

Cok Ace explains that AA Niang Agung is the second wife of his late father Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati. 

While the first wife AA Niang Mengwi (late) who had died in 2000 at the age of 80 years. 

The third wife who is Cok Ace's own mother AA Niang Rai (late) died in 2011 and then at the age of 76 years.

Added during life AA Niang Agung only has a daughter namely Tjokorda Istri Sri Atun Sukawati. 

Until now the deceased left 10 grandchildren.

Cremation ceremony is the most important in Balinese life. Along with the following some rituals after, cremation

is the last ceremony for Balinese in the human circle of life and must be done properly both in sekala and niskala .

There are some words in local language for cremation ceremony. They are: Ngaben, Plebon andPretiwaan.

  In general, the purpose of these ceremony is same: to convey the deceased soul to the ‘eternal’ world.

 Ngaben is a common word for cremation ceremony for ordinary people meanwhile Plebonis cremation ceremony for royal family

and Pretiwaan is for high priest.  Besides that, cremation ceremony also has three level of how the ceremony done; nista (modest)

, madya (in the middle between modest and prime) and utama (prime).

Ngaben / Plebon / Pretiwaan can be done as soon as possible on the upcoming weeks as the summit of cremation ceremony

must be fall on particular auspicious day due to the Bali calendar calculation.

The bigger scale of the ceremony the longer preparation it takes; it can be a month or two or even more.

As cremation ceremony takes a lot of time to prepare and also it needs lots of money to pay all expenses during preparation,

most Balinese don’t do cremation right away after their family passed away but they do later in next few years instead. 

However, certain people such as Pedanda (a high Hindu priest) or Pemangku (a religious leader in the village)

will be cremated as soon as he passed away. Or noble man / noble women from royal family will have special cremation ceremony

which will take several months in preparation as their cremation ceremony mostly take the prime level of cremation ceremony.

Once in 3 or 5 years, the village council will hold collective cremation ceremony.

This is the time for village members who don’t cremate their deceased family yet to join.

The collective cremation reduces some expenses and much more affordable for most of village members.

Collective cremation called Atiwa-tiwa Kinembulan / Ngaben Ngerit / Ngaben Masal.

Every son in the family have obligation to make proper cremation ceremony for their late parents.

If the parents have no children or those who don’t married, their close relative will take over this

The cremation tower (bade) has a height of 24 meters and needs to hold by 20or 30 men [ view video below ]
